Every month the Sydney BAG (book art group) meet up to show and tell, and we all individually exhibit, win and sell work but this time we had our inaugural Sydney Book Art Group Show. Thank you to Art Est. Art School for everything that made this a great exhibition.
Some photographs can be seen via our facebook page and the show still runs until the 2 December.

Happy to have nearly nearly finished making new works for the artist book exhibition Personal Histories. I love being in exhibitions like this one as I am garanteed that my work will sit next to beautiful and fully considered bookart constructions by artists I admire.

A wonderful weekend in Melbourne thanks to lovely friends and an extra huge thank you goes to Sandra Eterovic, the creator of the above bird dancing girl - please see her blog here and her shop here. It was a fully packed visit as I attended the inaugural Codex Australia Symposium and book fair, joyously catching up with Sydney folk as you do. The talks were all brilliant with lots of brain exploding moments as theories densified. I so needed that work out. now home to rest ....

Bird Week
Ornitho-logical (until the 26th) at Leichhardt's community Pop In Space is a good looking show featuring (detail above) Kirsty Collins' installation piece No Honeyeaters and with probably too many of my bird works! I did do some new watercolours, The locals, 27 "quickies" sourced from photos taken around my home/garden to reflect all states of my visitors movements.
Celebrate our native birds this Bird Week 19 - 25 October

Abundance - waste not is a larger piece made for the inaugural addition to North Sydney's Art Prize, The Coal Loader - Centre for Sustainability. What was so lovely being in the show, from the curator Alison Clarke to the artists, was a genuine delight installing in this newly updated space. A recommended visit with or without the art. The 8 day show is now over and I am looking forward to reinventing this hangy left-over paper work into a new form....

Last days for the brilliant Janet Parker - Smith's show
"This new series of collages and objects deal with ways of seeing. Using humour, they explore displacement and aim to provoke enquiry into how one receives, perceives and imagines physical ‘otherness’. The work explores nature’s boundless capacity for reinvention and rejuvenation, as well as the necessity for these processes as a means of survival. Referencing nature and alchemy, the work discusses the effects of progression and existence on nature and our environment."

See more details in the catalogue and here on the cover is my Four and Twenty Magpies alongside work by Julie Shaw Lutts and Diane Jacobs. Glad I went last night to an opening at the Maroubra library as my piece with others from the Manly Library's collection were on display. Lots of jobs to complete as usual and my in-tray is a mess
