Back from a big trip and stay at the light filled Portland Artist Residency. Missing the friends made, the dahlias and all those wonderful views especially from the apartment window.

30 July 2014

at home in Hill End has come to an end for now. I'll miss a couple of the locals and the endless skies but Syd's home is full of north light, 23˚ days, my backyard pals are free ranging in safety and no more log stacking!

home is just a quickie. Too cold to stop and the camera is bust so my happy snapping and showing off is on hold.

A wonderful weekend in Melbourne thanks to lovely friends and an extra huge thank you goes to Sandra Eterovic, the creator of the above bird dancing girl - please see her blog here and her shop here. It was a fully packed visit as I attended the inaugural Codex Australia Symposium and book fair, joyously catching up with Sydney folk as you do. The talks were all brilliant with lots of brain exploding moments as theories densified. I so needed that work out. now home to rest ....

... sometimes the best thing is to sit back and watch Catherine the Great... next Jules and Jim...

7 November 2013

A whirlwind of friendly catch ups and completion of art shows... including lots of good news for me.

My lovely friend Jo Grant was in Sydney setting up her beautiful work, Vessel at Branch3d, see more images  here and here.
And on Wednesday Jo's book All Prize Winners Paraded was launched with links found here

From a beautiful dinner held at English Lane to the detail of Tony Albert's Pay Attention at Dubbo Regional Gallery and a painting found at Hill End's Post office, are a few images from my last trip away.

Coming up this Sunday is Hill End Artists Open Studio Day

On the road.... for the last of the winter months I will shuttle between the inner suburbs and the outer villages of NSW. I still need to complete lots of projects for various exhibitions but its great to be getting out and meeting my favourite folk again. For a fabulous telling of our recent days, peruse the latest at Hill End Press blog

With me, it's often about the bird or the book.
Last Monday, after a delightful visit with a star friend in the mountains, one of the local Op shops unloaded their hard books artfully into the back of my hoarding car. Anyone after a book?

27 March 2013

It hasn't all gone to the birds... oh wait, yes.. my work has as usual returns this year with lots of bird-book-making: four and twenty Magpies, a line-up of Pardalotes and now an assortment of birdy heads. oh the joy of birds.

19 February 2013

Guess where we are today.... a view from the MCA's 4th floor cafe; an incredible installation Waste Not by Song Dong at my fave Sydney venue Carriageworks - please have a  further look, as it doesn't show here the intensity and brilliance of this highly personal piece, there are links at my other blog: along the greenway; one of Jo Grant's pieces that I own and another couple hanging with my pattern for a bird concertina book. Jo's beautiful art can be better seen at her blog here

It is all about friends, food, travel and Art. Going back in time here when Jo Grant and I visited Sandra Eterović and Melbourne was having the horribly hot 42°C. Starting with Sally Smart's installation at Ian Potter; 3 of us feasting at Sandra's; "I didn't do it" by Monty;  Taste 1987-88 by Aleks Danko; Sandra's dancing lady found at her etsy shop here; and in Port Fairy, with Jo and Monty at home.
