"A work about remembrance, mortality and loss" Rachel Kent, senior curator of the MCA, in conversation with Kate this Sat 3pm as part of the new venture Art Month Sydney .
The note is based on a relative's suicide letter that is transformed into a truely beautiful musical composition by Basil Hogios. When you enter the darkened space you end up standing behind a lone woman who addresses an empty theatre singing her goodbyes to family and friends. The final performance. A deeply sad but necessary work for I believe that our society does not deal at all well with the process of loss. There should be room for grief to be shared and expressed without shame and art is a perfect place. Strangely but in sync, I am involved in a couple of art collaborations that are about death ....
