A visit to Hazelhurst Regional Gallery to see The Ghost Show was totally different to my preconceived notion of what, how the show would be like... I associate anything ghosty with home, history and interiors. It wasn't particularly spooky either but interestingly the idea was to present 6 artists' responses to the local folklore of the haunted 1940-50's Hazelhurst cottage. Too much glossy black and sterility in the gallery for me to engage easily. I kept wondering what artist Kathryn Campbell Dodd of Bird in the House would have thought....

Hands on, the neighbouring exhibit involved lots of stitching and knitting... some fave artists were here also some great saucy numbers (overheard a viewer complaining to staff about the devastating affects of them on children!.. we have a long history with conservatism fighting with the arts here). A local artist Silke Raetze made the fun "Mayflower" series of cross stitching her real on-line dating adventures in the style of Mr Men books and Home Sweet Home samplers.... "Playboys, Pushovers and Parasites Need Not Apply" and after "Mayflower Meets Mr Open Options" a happy ending occurred with finding unexpectedly Mr right!
