Happy to be "a fool that rushed in" (Where Angels Fear to Tread) she said about herself. Betty Churcher, was a beautiful beautiful, passionate champion of the visual arts (1931 - 2015).  She opened up ways of seeing, influenced my approach to art making and importantly she was a strong female presence in the world of art - mainly via ABC tv programs and the choices made at the National Art Gallery of Australia.
